HC rebukes Aroop Biswas over Messi case, grants protection with restrictions; takes away passport
Fresh legal challenges have emerged for Trinamool Congress National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee after BJP leader Abhijit Das, popularly known as Bobby, filed an FIR against him at Diamond Harbour Police Station. The complaint relates to an alleged assault incident that took place in 2018 and names Abhishek Banerjee along with five others as accused.
According to the complaint, Bobby alleged that he was attacked at Kapathat More in Diamond Harbour as part of a planned assault involving Abhishek Banerjee and some of his close associates. He claimed that the attack left him unconscious and that no assistance was provided to him at the scene. The incident is reported to have occurred during 2018.
Bobby stated that he had approached the police regarding the matter at the time of the incident and had filed a complaint. However, he alleged that no meaningful action was taken on the case. On Tuesday night, he again approached the police seeking action, following which a fresh FIR was reportedly registered in connection with the allegations.
Speaking about the complaint, Bobby alleged that the assault caused lasting physical injuries and affected his mobility. He claimed that the attack had been planned and carried out by Abhishek Banerjee and his associates. He further stated that he expects legal action to proceed in the matter following the registration of the FIR.
The latest complaint comes at a time when Abhishek Banerjee is facing scrutiny in other legal and investigative matters. He has recently been under investigation in the alleged forged-signature case and has been served multiple notices by the CID. The newly registered FIR adds another legal matter involving the Trinamool Congress leader.
